Post from Drew: Katie was scheduled to be induced on November 22, but on Tuesday, November 15 she had been sick, feeling like she had the flu. We went in to see the doctor, and everything seemed to be fine except that Hank's heart beat was a little fast. He decided to monitor her for a while, and we were all surprised that she was having contractions about every 3-4 minutes. He decided to give her some IV fluids and monitor for a few more hours to see if the contractions would stop. That afternoon, we were in a hurry to get to the doctor's office and picked Chase up from daycare. I believe this was the only appointment Chase went to. After sitting in small exam rooms for about 3.5 hours, it was time for Chase to go home. I took him home, and Katie's parents kept him and Ruby. I packed a few things, just in case we had to stay the night. After about 4 hours, Katie was still having contractions, although they had slowed some. We moved from the triage room to a real labor/delivery room for the night. I went home about midnight to get a few more things in case he actually came. In the morning her doctor fully intended to send us home, but he checked her and she was dilated more to 3 cm. We decided to go ahead and meet Hank a few days earlier than expected, and a few hours later he was born.
Chase was very excited to meet his "baby." Chase got to meet Hank before the rest of our families and it was a special time for us all to get to be together.
