Daddy's First Interview

Drew had his first interview for residency this past Monday, and Chase and I were so excited that he let us tag along! We went to Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday morning and got back Monday night. We weren't there very long, but I feel like we really made the most of our stay. When we first got to Louisville, we went to visit with Drew's friends from Cumberland College...Dave and Ron, and their wives. It was great to see them and I had never met their wives, so I really enjoyed that! Chase had a great time too...I was just so disappointed I didn't take any pictures of them with Drew! After that, we drove downtown to our hotel. I had never been to Louisville...it was such a nice city!

Here is Drew and Chase once we got to our hotel. Chase hasn't spent the night in many hotel rooms, so he was pretty excited!

Drew had to go to dinner with the residents that night, and for some reason he felt that Chase probably would not be invited :) So, Chase and I had a date! We have never done that before...we had a lot of fun even though we missed Daddy! We went to this entertainment district only a block from our hotel and ate dinner...

On the way back from dinner, it was getting dark, but I managed to get a few pictures. We also stopped and bought Chase his very first Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt!

This was our hotel, The Seelbach. It was really neat and old. I'm sure we were a sight to see...there were no ramps anywhere, so that made the stroller a little difficult and our little family of three would barely fit in the elevator!

Drew and Chase the next morning before Drew left for his interview...

Chase and I went to the Zoo in Louisville while Drew interviewed. Because we are members of the Birmingham Zoo, we were able to get in free! It was a really neat zoo and we had a great time! Also, if you know me, it was a pretty big deal that I navigated around Louisville to find the zoo on my own...especially considering that my first time to drive in downtown Birmingham was after college! (and I still only know how to get to Children's Hospital)

The zoo was decorated for Fall, so I tried to get some pictures...(Chase was a little too into his surroundings to pose for the picture)

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but Drew and I always make fun of the people who go to the zoo and take pictures of all the animals...well, I was that girl this time. I had to take pictures of the rhinos and the giraffes to show how close we were able to get to them. It really was neat and Chase loved it!

Chase and Elmo (Chase calls him "baby"...we aren't sure why, but it's cute!)
Had to take a picture of the polar bear since we don't have bears at our zoo...Chase really liked seeing the polar bear. It started dancing and Chase did too!

After 2 and a half hours at the zoo, this is how it ended....he was worn out! We went to get Drew and we were on our way home. Drew's interview went well so we were happy about that! It was a great trip!

Happy Birthday Uncle Clay and Grandaddy!

Last Saturday afternoon we went to Mama Zo and Pops' house to celebrate Uncle Clay and Grandaddy's birthdays! We had a great time and we loved getting to see everyone...especially baby George!

Mama Zo feeding Chase his cake...he isn't going to miss out on cake, ever!

Chase loved baby George and he was very interested in him. Here he is helping Mama Zo feed George...

Drew's Granny was so sweet to get down on the floor and play with Chase! We are so blessed to have she and Grandaddy!

Here is a close-up of Baby George...he is so sweet!

Chase showing his interest in baby George again...

He was holding George's hand the whole time....

Chase made sure that he gave George a proper send off!

Planting Mums

Last Saturday was our first Saturday to be in town for several weeks and I was getting impatient because we hadn't planted our mums! So, since we had plans for the rest of the day, Drew and I got up and Drew mowed the yard and planted the window boxes while I planted flowers around our mailbox....we had everything done by 7:00 and we were so proud! Chase woke up during that time and he loved "helping" plant the window boxes! He just had the best time with the dirt and the flowers....we knew his Peg-P would be proud (she loves flowers)!

Chase kept filling up buckets of dirt and giving them to Drew while saying "Thank you" (sounds like "da-ku")

Ruby loved helping plant too!

Chase was running after Ruby here because he felt that she was getting a little too close to the street!

Beach Trip

We went to the beach this past weekend with our friends and had the best time! We rented a house and there were 11 adults and 9 kids (the oldest kid was 3)....so we were on our toes alot! It was so much fun, though, and Chase had such a great time! He is exactly in the middle of the kids (4 are older and 4 are younger), so he had so much fun trying to be just like the older ones and playing with the little ones too! Oh, and the weather was perfect!

Chase is chasing the birds here...it is so funny to think that he wasn't even walking consistently when we took him to the beach in June....now he was doing his best to run!
This bird got away from him...when he realized that he was not going to be able to catch it, he stopped and waved at it saying "bye bye"- it was so cute!

Collier is on the boogie board pulling Chase in the boat...Drew is supervising...

No supervision here!

Drew and Chase in the water..

The boys caught a big crab in their net that they were taking back to show everyone...

Admiring the crab (Chase didn't stay interested long enough for me to take the picture)...

It was so nice to have a pool at the house...we had fun playing both afternoons!

Chase with Collier and Emma...he loved feeling like one of the big kids!

Chase will all of the big kids and Camp (one of the little ones)...

Drew and Chase with Collier and Clayton on the balcony...

Almost all of the kids- we were missing one...

Chase loved trying everyone's shoes on..

Chase and Drew playing in the ocean and the sand..

They were building a city in the sand here...

They buried Drew in the sand and Chase wasn't real sure what he thought about it (Chase is the one climbing on top of Drew)....

The two big crabs that the boys caught with their nets- they also caught three fish and a sting ray!

Family picture on the beach...

Lawson and Chase admiring the crabs...

The sunset was so pretty our last night on the beach, so I was so glad that we got to get some pictures...

Funny faces!...

Chase and Lawson found a couple on the beach that had music going that they could dance to...I am pretty sure that the couple was trying to have some alone time, but they were really sweet to the boys!

We were sad to the see the beach trip end...we had such a great time!
