Drew had his first interview for residency this past Monday, and Chase and I were so excited that he let us tag along! We went to Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday morning and got back Monday night. We weren't there very long, but I feel like we really made the most of our stay. When we first got to Louisville, we went to visit with Drew's friends from Cumberland College...Dave and Ron, and their wives. It was great to see them and I had never met their wives, so I really enjoyed that! Chase had a great time too...I was just so disappointed I didn't take any pictures of them with Drew! After that, we drove downtown to our hotel. I had never been to Louisville...it was such a nice city!
Here is Drew and Chase once we got to our hotel. Chase hasn't spent the night in many hotel rooms, so he was pretty excited!
Drew had to go to dinner with the residents that night, and for some reason he felt that Chase probably would not be invited :) So, Chase and I had a date! We have never done that before...we had a lot of fun even though we missed Daddy! We went to this entertainment district only a block from our hotel and ate dinner...
On the way back from dinner, it was getting dark, but I managed to get a few pictures. We also stopped and bought Chase his very first Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt!
This was our hotel, The Seelbach. It was really neat and old. I'm sure we were a sight to see...there were no ramps anywhere, so that made the stroller a little difficult and our little family of three would barely fit in the elevator!
Drew and Chase the next morning before Drew left for his interview...
Chase and I went to the Zoo in Louisville while Drew interviewed. Because we are members of the Birmingham Zoo, we were able to get in free! It was a really neat zoo and we had a great time! Also, if you know me, it was a pretty big deal that I navigated around Louisville to find the zoo on my own...especially considering that my first time to drive in downtown Birmingham was after college! (and I still only know how to get to Children's Hospital)
The zoo was decorated for Fall, so I tried to get some pictures...(Chase was a little too into his surroundings to pose for the picture)
I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but Drew and I always make fun of the people who go to the zoo and take pictures of all the animals...well, I was that girl this time. I had to take pictures of the rhinos and the giraffes to show how close we were able to get to them. It really was neat and Chase loved it!
Chase and Elmo (Chase calls him "baby"...we aren't sure why, but it's cute!)
Had to take a picture of the polar bear since we don't have bears at our zoo...Chase really liked seeing the polar bear. It started dancing and Chase did too!
Chase watching the polar bear...
After 2 and a half hours at the zoo, this is how it ended....he was worn out! We went to get Drew and we were on our way home. Drew's interview went well so we were happy about that! It was a great trip!
